Abstract (source)

The present study was conducted to investigate the effect of plyometric training on lower-limb power among school-level track and field athletes from Pimpri-Chinchwad. Lower-limb explosive power is an important component of athletic performance, particularly in sprinting and jumping activities. A quasi-experimental pre-test and post-test single-group

Design: was used for the study. A total of 15 male track and field athletes aged 12 to 16 years were selected through convenience sampling based on predetermined inclusion and exclusion criteria. Lower-limb power was assessed using the Standing Vertical Jump Test and Standing Broad Jump Test before and after the intervention. The

Results: demonstrated significant improvements in both measures of lower-limb power. Mean broad jump performance increased from 1.94 ± 0.24 m before training to 2.01 ± 0.24 m after training, with a mean difference of 0.068 m (t = 20.821, p < 0.001). Mean vertical jump performance increased from 2.54 ± 0.31 m to 2.62 ± 0.33 m, with a mean difference of 0.083 m (t = 6.507, p < 0.001). These

Findings: indicate statistically significant improvements in both horizontal and vertical jumping performance following the six-week plyometric training intervention.
