Abstract (source)

The high number of injuries in the legs of female futsal players is strongly connected to differences in how the body moves and functions. The difference includes Q-angle, which is knees that collapse inward while moving, as well as a difference in balance control upon landing. This study aimed to investigate of a six-week Knäkontroll training program affects the flexibility and balance of female futsal players. The study used a

Design: where the same group was tested before and after the program. Twenty-two active female futsal players, who were (aged 16.1 ± 1.5 years) on average were chosen based meet criteria. The Knäkontroll program was added to the teams warm-up three times a week for six weeks. To evaluated flexibility the Sit and Reach Test was used, and to evaluated balance the Y-Balance Test was used. The

Results: showed improvements after the program (p = 0.001). Flexibility improved by 28.8% going from 9.7 cm to 12.5 cm (Hedges'g = 0.46, moderate effect). The effect was moderate. The balance score improved by 11.6% going from 86.1%, to 96.1% (Hedges'g = 1.50, large effect). The effect was large. Adding the Knäkontroll program to up routines helps improve the way the body moves and stays balanced. Coaches are encouraged to use this program as a way to help female futsal players move better and avoid injuries.
