Effects of L v Jian sports drink on selected physiological parameters in athletes

Jiro Tanaka, Guoqian Zhang, Binbin Hong ยท Cambridge sport science. ยท 2026

Researchers gave boxing and taekwondo athletes either an "L v Jian" sports drink or a control drink daily during high-intensity training, and tracked blood markers at baseline, 2 weeks, and 4 weeks. Compared with the control group, the drink group had higher serum testosterone, lower creatine kinase (a marker of muscle damage), and relatively stable hemoglobin, which the authors interpret as better recovery and physical function.
Takeaway: Treat this single small-group drink trial as preliminary, and focus on proven recovery basics (adequate carbohydrate, protein, fluids, and sleep) rather than a specific branded beverage.
Abstract (source)

Objective: To investigate the effects of L v Jian sports drink on certain physiological indicators in boxing and taekwondo athletes under high-intensity training conditions, and to explore whether it has the function of improving physical performance and anti-fatigue.

Methods: Boxing and taekwondo athletes were randomly and equally divided into an experimental group and a control group. The experimental group and the control group were supplemented with L v Jian sports drink and control drink daily, respectively. Blood biochemical indicators of the subjects were tested before the experiment, and at 2 and 4 weeks.

Results: Compared with the control group, the experimental group showed significantly increased serum testosterone levels (P<0.05), significantly decreased creatine kinase (P<0.05), and relatively stable hemoglobin content.

Conclusion: Supplementation with L v Jian sports drink is beneficial for improving physical function and promoting fatigue recovery in boxing and taekwondo athletes during high-intensity training.
