This study
Aims: to improve the VO2max capacity of 11th-grade students at SMAN 1 Bandar Lampung through the implementation of various forms of interval training. This research is a Classroom Action Research (CAR) study conducted over three cycles (pre-cycle, Cycle I, Cycle II, and Cycle III). The subjects consisted of 36 students (14 male and 22 female). Data on cardiorespiratory endurance (VO2max) were collected using the Multistage Fitness Test (MFT) and evaluated via an instrument comprising five weighted indicators. Data analysis employed quantitative descriptive
Methods: to calculate the percentage of classical learning mastery and the average composite score, alongside qualitative analysis to observe changes in the students' exercise behaviors. The
Results: indicate a significant improvement in VO2max capacity mastery. In the pre-cycle, the mastery rate was only 22.22% (8 students). Following the interventions—consisting of Fartlek interval training (Cycle I), Tabata/high-intensity interval training (Cycle II), and shuttle run interval training (Cycle III)—the mastery rates increased to 41.67% (15 students) in Cycle I, 69.44% (25 students) in Cycle II, and 88.89% (32 students) in Cycle III. Thus, the use of various interval training
methods has proven effective in enhancing the students' VO2max capacity.
