Abstract (source)

This study aimed to determine the effect of depth jump training, hurdle jump training, and a combination of depth jump and hurdle jump training on the smash performance of volleyball extracurricular participants at SMP Negeri 14 Lubuklinggau. This study employed an experimental

Method: using a pretest–posttest

Design: . The research participants consisted of 45 volleyball extracurricular participants who were divided into three groups: the depth jump group, the hurdle jump group, and the combination group. Data were collected through smash performance tests conducted before and after the training intervention. The data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test to determine the effect of each training

method and the Kruskal–Wallis test to compare the improvement in smash performance among the three groups. The

Results: of the Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test showed that depth jump training had a significant effect on smash performance, with a Z-value of -3.417 and an Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.001 (p 0.05). Although the Depth Jump group had the highest Mean Rank (26.83), followed by the Hurdle Jump group (23.87) and the combination group (18.30), the difference was not statistically significant. Therefore, Depth Jump training, hurdle jump training, and the combination of both can be used as alternative training

Methods: to improve the smash performance of volleyball extracurricular participants, although none of the three

methods can be stated to be significantly more effective than the others
