THE EFFECTS OF HIIT AND TABATA CIRCUIT TRAINING ON THE ENDURANCE OF ATHLETES AT PION MAS SCHOOL GROBOGAN SOCCER ACADEMY

Researchers split 20 male youth soccer players (ages 12-15) into two groups doing either HIIT or Tabata circuit training, then measured endurance with a beep-test estimate of VO2max. Both methods significantly improved endurance; HIIT produced a slightly bigger VO2max gain, but the difference between the two methods was not statistically significant (p = 0.058).
Takeaway: Pick either HIIT or Tabata circuits to build endurance - both work, so choose whichever you'll stick with.
