Abstract (source)

Muay Thai performance is determined by multiple interacting factors, including physical readiness and the quality of the environment in which athletic talent is developed. However, the extent to which these factors are associated with competitive achievement at the regional level remains insufficiently understood. This study aimed to examine the partial and simultaneous relationships between physical condition, environment-based talent development, and the achievement of Muay Thai athletes from Tanah Laut Regency at the 2025 Provincial Championship. A quantitative cross-sectional correlational

Design: was employed. The participants comprised 34 male and female Muay Thai athletes selected through total population sampling. Physical condition was assessed using a standardized field-test battery covering relevant fitness components, while environment-based talent development was measured using a structured questionnaire addressing coaching, developmental support, facilities, communication, and support networks. Athlete achievement was determined from competitive outcomes at the championship. Data were analyzed using correlation and multiple regression procedures with SPSS at a

Significance: level of .05. The

Results: showed that physical condition was not significantly associated with athlete achievement (t = 1.266, p = .223). Environment-based talent development also showed no significant relationship with achievement (t = 1.044, p = .311). Simultaneously, the two predictors did not significantly explain competitive achievement (p = .287). The coefficient of determination (R² = .136) indicated that physical condition and environment-based talent development explained 13.6% of the variation in achievement, while 86.4% was attributable to other factors. These

Findings: indicate that Muay Thai achievement is multidimensional and requires integrated physical, technical, tactical, psychological, and competition-specific preparation.
