The combination of Internet of Things (IoT) wearable sensors and artificial intelligence (AI) has produced monitoring systems that can track physiological and biomechanical variables in real time,but the resulting research is spread across sports science, biomedical engineering, and computer science literature. No single review currently brings together how IoT wearable sensors and AI techniques are being combined specifically for football performance monitoring, what benefits and limitations these systems bring, or where the field is headed next.
